June 08 2023,
Mercedes-Benz has announced the pricing for its much-anticipated 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLC SUV model, which is set to start at $58,900. Available in June 2023, the SUV is bigger, more comfortable, and packed with new features, bringing an enhanced experience for both the driver and passengers.
More Space and Comfort
The 2023 GLC SUV is dimensionally larger than its predecessor, being 60mm longer and 4mm lower, offering more interior space. The front and rear track widths have been increased by 6mm and 23mm, respectively, contributing to better stability. Luggage capacity also saw a considerable increase, expanded to 620 litres, a substantial 70-litre increase from the previous model.
Mercedes-Benz has made significant strides in improving the SUV's comfort levels. The bodyshell and sound insulation have been enhanced, resulting in a serene sound signature, reducing both rolling and wind noise. Additionally, the standard acoustic membrane in the windscreen and the optional thermal insulation glass provide even higher comfort levels. A newly designed panoramic sunroof with a larger glass roof area further adds to the interior's airy ambiance.
Mild-Hybrid Efficiency
Performance and efficiency are key in the new GLC SUV. It features a four-cylinder mild-hybrid engine equipped with 48-volt technology and an integrated starter-generator (ISG). The ISG enables features like "gliding", boost, and recuperation for fuel savings, while the base engine delivers a robust 255 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque, surpassing the previous generation.
Improved Off-Road Capability and Towing
The GLC SUV is also designed for off-road driving. Its standard equipment includes an off-road driving mode and Downhill Speed Regulation (DSR). Additionally, the off-road mode offers a "transparent engine hood" for viewing obstacles, and a new off-road screen displays inclination, gradient, altitude, geo-coordinates, and compass. This means all off-road functions can be controlled on one screen for easier maneuvering.
The vehicle's towing capabilities are further enhanced by features like a towing route planner, which defines the type of trailer being used, and the Trailer Manoeuvring Assist, which regulates the steering angle when manoeuvring with a trailer. There's also a stabilization feature when reversing and the capability to guide the vehicle around bends up to 90 degrees. These can all be viewed from various camera perspectives on the central display.
More Safety Features
On the safety front, the GLC features improved assistance systems for reduced driver workload and increased safety. Its Intelligent Drive package includes advanced features for safer driving, like Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC that now reacts to stationary vehicles at speeds up to 100 km/h, and Active Steering Assist with additional 360-degree camera capabilities for low-speed driving assistance.
More Tech Inside
Inside, the GLC boasts a clearly structured dashboard with a new wing-like profile, featuring flattened round nozzles and a generous trim area that flows harmoniously into a curved centre console. Two high-resolution LCD screens, a 12.3-inch driver's display, and an 11.9-inch central display, enhance the user experience, offering a structured and clear view of vehicle and comfort functions.
The latest generation of the MBUX infotainment system has seen significant advancements in both hardware and software. Full-screen navigation and an optional MBUX Augmented Reality for navigation offer the driver the best possible route guidance. By registering the surroundings in front of the vehicle and superimposing virtual objects, information, and markers on the central display, the system makes navigation easier, especially in urban areas.
Overall, the 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLC SUV brings a blend of comfort, performance, and state-of-the-art technology to drivers and passengers, offering an unparalleled driving experience.
