2019 Mercedes-Benz A-Class: Fun and sophistication.
June 04 2018, Mercedes-Benz de Boucherville
Expected later this year, the new A-Class promises to blend the best of what we’ve come to expect from Mercedes-Benz in a compact and dynamic package. The A-Class is the luxury carmaker’s entry-level product, but a brief study of its list of standard and available features might make you think otherwise.
Mercedes-Benz’s wide range of products, from the smart car to the large three-row full-size GLS SUV, has enabled it to expertly cater to an equally wide range of consumers. This unique advantage ensures purchasers that, no matter the amount spent, you’ll be buying into the Mercedes experience.
Small in size, big on content.
The Mercedes-Benz A-Class will be available as either a 4-door sedan and 5-door hatchback in Canada. Styling-wise, the A-Class will bear the latest sporty “shark-nose” front graphic, sharing everything but its size with the all-new CLS. Strong and subtle character lines adorn the shell and bring the entire body together. In the middle of it all are generously flared wheel arches covering 17” or 18” wheels. There’s no doubting the A-Class’ sporty and youthful nature.
Technophiles and luxury amenity lovers alike will find something to love about the A-Class. A pair of 7-inch or optional 10.25-inch displays, identical in design to those found in an S-Class and CLS, if only smaller, make up the top portion of the dashboard. Mercedes-Benz’s User Experience, or MBUX, will be accessed through these screens or via voice commands. Artificial intelligence, a feature integrated into the system, will enable it to learn the user’s preferences. Among other accessories will be smartphone integration, with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
A single powertrain, with or without AWD.
The 2019 Mercedes-Benz A 250 will be powered by a turbocharged 2.0-litre 4-cylinder engine mated to a standard 7G-DCT dual clutch transmission. With 221-horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque from 1,800-4,000 rpm on tap, the FWD A 250 will sprint to 100 km/h in only 6.2 seconds. 4MATIC all-wheel drive will be an option.
Refinement won’t be set aside even for this compact affordable car. A McPherson front and sophisticated four-link rear suspension setup will be fine-tuned for comfort with a side of agility. DYNAMIC SELECT drive modes will augment efficiency and fun at the press of a button.
